Speakers:

Jessica Luan: Hello! My name is Jessica Luan and I’m a senior at Amador Valley High School and the president of Local Leaders this school year. I joined this club initially to learn more about the environment, but I instead found a supportive community of students who were passionate about not just environmental education, but also advocacy and action. The amazing members of Local Leaders volunteer with community organizations, speak at outreach events, and have implemented the first recycling program in the district! Joining Local Leaders was a pivotal moment in my high school career, as this club gave me the confidence to use my voice to speak on environmental issues and the opportunity to enact positive, lasting change. In my free time I like to read, travel, try new restaurants, and spend time with friends!

Bryan Luo: Greetings, seekers of environmental justice! I’m Bryan, a freshman at UCLA. I graduated from Amador in 2019. I joined Local Leaders around January 2017, and I served as VP for Local Leaders for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 school years. After attending a few meetings, I quickly came to develop a passion for environmental issues, especially relating to waste and energy management. I saw how urgent and pressing these environmental issues are to our world. Local Leaders gave me the opportunity to take tangible action at the local level, as well as develop other invaluable leadership and communication skills. I’m super excited to be running this booth at the YEAS and feel free to email me your questions at bryanluo100@gmail.com
