As the representative of California's 15th congressional district, Eric Swalwell has raised awareness about climate change and supported legislation to combat it. Many of his speeches have revolved around the idea of transitioning away from fossil fuels to renewable energy in order to protect our public health and safety. Furthermore, climate change endangers much of California’s economy, which relies on its robust agricultural industry. In Congress, he has cosponsored legislation to fund research in renewable energy, to regulate fracking, to ban offshore drilling in California, and to protect parts of Alaska from drilling. Swalwell has considerable experience supporting youth activists, especially on the issue of gun control. In 2015, he founded #FutureForum to provide a bipartisan platform for young millennial lawmakers to address our growing challenges.
